  • It was originally a trading post founded by the Phoenicians in the 1st millennium BC.
  • The site reached its apex during Roman times when it became the chief town of the island. The ruins include an amphitheater, a basilica, and a forum.
  • Drive to Telebt, not far from Cedouikech, in the south Djerba island, where we will visit one of the most preserved underground ibadite mosques dating from the fourteenth century.
  • It is a place of worship built in sober and stripped architecture. We can reach it by a staircase to the room of prayer while the skylights offer minimalist lighting.
  • Drive to Guellela, Djerba’s main pottery center, where clay is extracted from underground quarries and edited into magnificent storage jars and amphoras in a true form of art.

Excursion très intéressante pour découvrir en profondeur l’île de Djerba. Nous avons bien aimé la côte sauvage de Djerba et le déjeuner riche au marché aux poissons.
