Itinerary of the Bivouac camping overnight and camel ride

DAY 1:SPECIAL OVERNIGHT IN THE SAHARA THE DESERT

Pick up from your selected hotel or location in Hammamet or Sousse to El Djem city.

Visit to El Jem Amphitheater, considered the largest and best-preserved Roman amphitheater in Africa. It was designed to seat 35000 people.

Drive to Gabes for lunch, it’s a coastal oasis famous for the ancient spice market.

After lunch, we continue to Douz and drive into the desert aboard 4×4 vehicle crossing sand dunes.

When we reach the Tunisian Sahara desert, we meet our Bedouin cameleers with their camels and all the equipment for a wonderful Bivouac camping overnight in the Tunisian Sahara Desert.

After a short learning on camels, the caravan begins to ride to the Erg Oriental crossing superb high dunes of golden sands following the steps of camels.

You enjoy breathtaking landscapes of the golden Sahara dunes where from time to time you make some photo breaks in wonderful places.

Reaching our camping place at the end of the day, enjoy an amazing sunset on the sand dunes. Taste a delicious Mint tea while our Bedouins prepare the sand bread.

Savor a delicious meal around a campfire with the sound of traditional drumming and flute played by our Bedouin cameleer.

You discover the traditions and customs of the Bedouin and Berbers in the Sahara.

A wonderful overnight in Bivouac under the starry sky that will be etched in your memory forever.

DAY 2:MATMATA THE AMAZING TROGLODYTE VILLAGE

Opening your eyes you find yourself surrounded by golden Sahara sand.

You start the morning with spectacular views of first daylights on the giant dunes of the large Sahara where you enjoy a charming sunrise.

Then, a tasty and typical breakfast prepared by our cameleers will be served to you.

After that, we carry our luggage on the camels and we start our journey crossing giant dunes and discovering the secrets of the Sahara till reaching Douz where you bid farewell to our Bedouin cameleers.

Drive to Matmata’s amazing troglodyte Berber village of unique beauty known for its cave dwelling houses and the an impressive lunar landscape.

We will visit an inhabited Berber troglodyte house to discover the ancient troglodyte architecture and the daily life of Berber women.

You will be delighted to discover the hospitality of Berber families and enjoy the delicious bred prepared in a traditional oven and served with organic honey and extra virgin Olive oil.

Afterwards, you will enjoy a traditional meal in a troglodyte restaurant.

After lunch, drive back to your hotel and drop off.

What's a Bivouac?

The bivouac is a rudimentary camp that we set up in the middle of the desert and that will allow us to spend the night under the stars or in tents. The principle is to set up the tent or camp without shelter in the evening at sunset and leave in the morning.

Is it cold at night in the desert ?

In the Tunisian Sahara Desert there’s no big diffrence between the tempreture during the day and that of the night but in winter the temperature  could decrease to 2  degrees. Il would be better to wear a pullover with a Jacket. But un summer time it’s hot  at night.

Are drinks available in the desert ?

In the desert Mineral Water and soft drinks are available
