Itinerary of the nomadic lifestyle experience

DAY ITINERARY: DJERBA-AL KANTARA-TATAOUINE-DOUIRET-DJERBA

Morning Pick up from your hotel in Djerba by 4X4 vehicle to the region of Tataouine via the Roman causeway, the ancient road that links the island of Djerba to the mainland.

A panoramic stopover at the Salt Lake “Sobkhet El Meleh” to admire the unusual landscape.

We continue to Tataouine, an ancient city that witnessed the Foreign Legion and the famous African battalion “BAT D’AF”.

Arrival and a short visit to the local marketplace.

We continue our road to the village of Douiret by crossing the Dhahar massif with its breathtaking views.

Arrive at Douiret and visit the magnificent abandoned ruined mountain village with its dwelling caves dug in the rocks, the curious underground mosque, the traditional oil mills, and the storage granaries.

Then, we go towards the plateau to join the Berber shepherd with his herd of goats and sheeps walking slowly in search of pasture.

You will be delighted to guard the herd through unusual breathtaking landscapes and experience the nomadic lifestyle in a wonderful natural setting.

At lunchtime, our guide and the shepherd will prepare a tasty lunch in the middle of nature with a mouthwatering Méchoui “Grilled Lamb” with fresh salads and fruits of the season.

After a delicious mint tea, we continue walking with the herd crossing amazing landscapes until we reach Douiret.

At the end of the afternoon, we take the herd back to its enclosure, we bid farewell to the shepherd and we return directly to Djerba.

Drop off in your hotel and end of our services.
